TRANSROCKIES RACE SERIES SEASON UPDATE - JUNE 17, 2021

Summer is right around the corner, and everyone is keen to get back to racing! We’ve been working hard to navigate the various restart paths in the regions where we operate our events. Every location is unique and there are various challenges that affect all of our events differently. That said, some of our events are now confirmed to move forward, some are still waiting for more details, and some are unfortunately not going to happen this year.

Here’s today’s update for 2021 events:

Under Armour TransRockies Run - Already Confirmed August 2-7

As we announced in May, the TransRockies Run is back this year! We have approval from all the host communities and permitting agencies in Colorado to move forward August 2-7. We’re also hopeful that Canadian participants may still be able to attend as Canadian quarantine requirements may soon be lifted for fully-vaccinated travellers. Participants will be required to provide either a proof of vaccination, negative covid test within 72 hours of sign-on, or a certificate of immunity from previous infection. The event is sold out but you can access the wait list by emailing emily@transrockies.com.

TranSelkirks Run - 2021 Cancelled

Unfortunately, we are now confirming that the TranSelkirks Run will not take place in 2021. All registrations will be rolled over to the 2022 event August 14-18, 2022. The primary reason for this is that Parks Canada is not permitting any events in Mount Revelstoke National Park this summer, which eliminates two stages from the 5-Day race. In addition, the majority of registered participants are from the US, and there is no firm date at which the Canadian border will re-open to tourists. If the 2022 event doesn’t work for you, we’re also offering the option to defer to 2023 or transfer your registration to someone else at no cost. Registration will be re-opening for 2022 soon - watch your inbox for details!

TransRockies Gravel Royale - Decision extended to July 2

We had previously announced that we would make a final decision on the inaugural event by June 18th and hope you understand why we want to give it another couple of weeks. Our ability to proceed with the event this year is primarily a function of the BC Restart Plan which was announced in late May. According to this plan, the event dates would likely fall in Step 3, which could start as early as July 1. The provincial government has not yet released clear details about what will be allowed and while some of the wording is promising, we have not been able to get more detail from the government and other major events in this timeframe have already been cancelled or rescheduled. As vaccination rates and case counts are both excellent in BC, we’re optimistic that the government will announce updated restrictions for Step 3 that will allow us to move forward when the province enters that step if not before. We’re also hopeful that Canada’s Federal Government will announce a firm timeline for accepting visitors from the US by that time, although this is currently unknown. We hope that you’re able to wait until July 2nd, but we also understand if you can’t and choose to defer your entry and make other plans. Registration for 2021 remains open and is fully transferrable to 2022.

Singletrack 6 and Golden Ultra - We’re very optimistic!

Step 4 of the BC Restart Plan is scheduled to start as early as September 7th, as long as benchmarks are met. Singletrack 6 starts on September 7th, which means that it COULD go ahead as normal in Step 4. Otherwise, it would be operating under Step 3, with currently unknown group size limits. That said, given that ST6 has no communal camp or meals, we feel that it could be modified to meet the current Step 2 restrictions which allow for groups of 50 with a COVID-19 safety plan. Registration for Singletrack 6 remains open and is fully transferrable to 2022.

For Golden Ultra, given the later date, we’re more confident that it will go ahead in Step 4 of the restart plan. For both of these events, we still plan to make a final call by July 9th, but again will let you know sooner if we can. Golden Ultra is sold out, but you can join the waiting list by emailing registration@transrockies.com

Moab Rocks - Confirmed October 16-18, 2021

Moab Rocks is on again with the October dates this year. Permits are in place and events are happening at this scale in Utah. We also expect that Canada-US border traffic will be mostly normal by this time for fully vaccinated travellers. Note that the 2022 dates will move back to the spring dates of April 2-4, 2022. Moab Rocks is sold out, but you can join the waiting list by emailing registration@transrockies.com.

We hope this helps you with your planning for this summer’s events! Thanks to everyone for your support and patience. If you need to defer, please contact registration@transrockies.com or for TransRockies Run, contact emily@transrockies.com
