Fernie – Where it all began!
As a part of the 9th annual TransRockies race, Fernie, BC, the only town that has been a part of every TransRockies
since inception in 2002 will be hosting a number of events to welcome riders to the Canadian Rockies.
On August 7th, the day before the TransRockies begin in Fernie, TR and TR3 participants will have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the century old town and unwind before the gun goes off and they take to the trails! Among the events planned to celebrate the TransRockies are a historical bike show and beer garden on Victoria Avenue next to Straightline Cycles, Fernie’s host bike shop of the TransRockies; a dine-around in the restaurants of Fernie from 7-10pm on the 7th featuring special meals prepared for competitors and a morning breakfast banquet for the riders.
On Sunday August 8th, the beer garden and bike show will continue throughout the day as part of the opening Time Trial stage. Riders are included in the action as each Time Trial finishers will be treated to a cold Fernie Beer as they cross the finish line.

Historical Bicycle Exhibit and Beer Gardens
The Fernie Historical Society is celebrating the TransRockies with a historic bicycle exhibit and an outdoor beer garden with entertainment. This event is on Victoria Avenue beside Straightline Bikes. Be sure to visit the exhibit and enjoy the gardens. The Museum will also be open on Sunday.

Start and Finish Line Beer Gardens and Food Tent
Breakfast starts at 9am and lunch at 11am, beverages all day long.
4th Annual Kids Bike Rally
100 kids’ aged 4 – 8 will be facing a fun and educational bike rally around Fernie’s downtown. This mini-rally will again add to the festivities surrounding the TransRockies Start. The event is free and is limited to the first 100 kids to register. Registration is at Straightline Bikes however registration forms can emailed by contacting transrockies@fernie.com. Start times are every half hour beginning at 10am and ending at 11:30am. The rally route takes about one hour and kids must be accompanied by a parent.
