As GU As It Gets! GU Energy Gels to Gear Up GORE-TEX™ TransRockies™ Runners

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUGUST 6TH, 2008

For 80 teams of ultra trail runners in this year’s GORE-TEX™ TransRockies Run, the news is indeed as GU as it gets.

GU Energy Gel, the original energy gel, will propel endurance runners up and over 107 miles of Rocky Mountain terrain on a six-day journey for the 2nd Edition of the
GORE-TEX™ TransRockies Run. With thousands of meters of vertical at elevations up to 12,600 feet, this year’s crop of athletes can rely on the solid science and tantalizingly tasty energy of GU gels to get them through each day.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the GORE-TEX™ Transrockies™ Run,” says Holly Bennett, GU’s Senior Marketing Manager. “The athletes participating in this grueling event have our utmost respect and are the exact type of competitors who will benefit from the energy provided by our original GU and, in particular, our new Roctane Ultra Endurance Energy Gel. We wish them all the best!”

With flavors like Chocolate Outrage, Tri-Berry and Espresso Love, GU gels are anything but ordinary.

“GU is a great match for GORE-TEX™ TransRockies Run participants,” says event director Aaron McConnell. “GU gels have pioneered the energy gel market and our runners will appreciate the proven science and unique flavors that have kept GU on top for so long.

“The GORE-TEX™ TransRockies™ Run demands a lot from its racers, and we are confident that GU is the best gel out there to help them achieve their goals.”

GU was launched in 1994 in Berkeley, CA. To this day, GU remains the market share leader and the premium gel available to endurance athletes. GU Energy Gel, Roctane Ultra Endurance Energy Gel and their companion electrolyte drink, GU2O, are designed to provide athletes with scientifically proven, performance-tested nutrition.
