2021 GOLDEN 24, RUNDLE’S REVENGE AND GRAN FONDO HIGHWOOD PASS CANCELLED

As Alberta and British Columbia enact stricter restrictions related to the Coivd-19 pandemic, there are no clear timelines as to when outdoor endurance sports events will be permitted to operate by provincial governments. As vaccination rates increase, we are hopeful that in-person events will resume soon, but current case and hospitalization numbers are not encouraging in the short term.

For that reason, we have no choice but to cancel the 2021 editions of Rundle’s Revenge, Golden 24 and the ATB Financial Gran Fondo Highwood Pass. All registrations will be automatically transferred to the 2022 events on the following dates:

Golden 24 - June 17-19, 2022
Rundle’s Revenge - June 25-26, 2022
ATB Financial Gran Fondo Highwood Pass  July 2, 2022

If you are registered for these events, your registration will be moved to the 2022 event, and you may also optionally defer your registration to the 2023 event or transfer your registration to another person with no penalty by contacting registration@transrockies.com. We are not able to issue any refunds. We have suspended registration temporarily and will announce the reopening dates for registration soon.

The remainder of our 2021 calendar is still currently planned to go ahead pending local restrictions. Currently, US restrictions have been relaxed to the point where it appears that our events in Colorado and Utah can go ahead this year, but we continue to work with local authorities to ensure that we can operate safely. Canadian events will be subject to the relaxation of public health orders, which have no set timelines but depend on vaccination rates, population immunity and hospitalization rates.

As we face different scenarios for all our events, we are keeping a few things in mind:

  1. Our participants are trying to make plans for the summer, including travel booking for destination events and balancing other personal priorities.

  2. We require adequate time to order and produce all final event materials and finalize permits, crew, rentals and other logistics.

  3. We realize that permitting agencies are bound by their own restraints and may not be able to issue permits according to our desired timelines.

Based on this, we have set firm deadlines which will be the latest date that we confirm if the remainder of our 2021 events will move forward or not, based on whether or not we feel the events can obtain permits. We hope that these timelines will give all our participants adequate time to plan for events and other priorities. Here are the deadlines to confirm:

  • Under Armour TransRockies Run - Announcement Deadline: May 14, 2021

  • TransRockies Gravel Royale and TranSelkirks Run: Announcement Deadline: June 18, 2021

  • TransRockies Singletrack 6 and Golden Ultra: Announcement Deadline: July 9, 2021

If we know for certain that events will or won’t go ahead before the dates above, we’ll let you know as soon as we can.

For events that can move forward, we expect a COVID-19 safety plan to be in place. We have published our preliminary COVID-19 Operating Plan - note that this is subject to changes and updates according to local conditions and regulations - we will confirm the details of the plan approx. 1 month prior to each event.

If you are not able to attend a given event due to travel restrictions or are not comfortable due to health and safety issues, you may defer your registration to the 2022 or 2023 event by contacting registration@transrockies.com. For TransRockies Run, please contact emily@transrockies.com. Note that the US-Canada border is currently closed to non-essential travel and subject to quarantine requirements. It is not known when border restrictions will ease.

Thanks to everyone for their continued support over the past year (and then some). The continued uncertainty is difficult for all of us, and the recovery will take some time. In the meantime, we encourage all participants to stay active, keep training, and get vaccinated as soon as it’s available to you, as this is the quickest path to a safe return of racing.

We can’t wait to see you again!
