LOOKING BACK ON 20 YEARS OF TRANSROCKIES! MAJOR MILESTONES IN TRANSROCKIES HISTORY
Every day that you step up to a start line you’re building a story - a story of victory, a story of defeat… stories of struggle, friendship, pain and pleasure. These are all part of the personal journey that is endurance sports. Since 2002, the mission of TransRockies has been to provide those opportunities to experience personal struggle and accomplishment in the great outdoors.
Over 20 years, 20,000 participants have competed in 278 race days, generating roughly 80,000 participant days at TransRockies events, each one having its own story. Check out the 20 years of TransRockies highlights below.

April 2002 - TransRockies Inc. is incorporated in Alberta to Operate an event based on the Bike TransAlp launched in Germany in 1998.
August 2002 - The first TransRockies Challenge was organized, a 7-day mountain bike race running 600 kilometers from Fernie to Canmore in the Canadian Rockies.
August 2006 - The TransRockies Challenge switches its route to run from Fernie, BC to Panorama Resort due to new event restrictions in Alberta Parks.
March 2007 - TransRockies US LP is incorporated to organize a new trail running stage race in Colorado - the TransRockies Run, based on the TransAlpine-Run in Europe.
August 2007 - The TransRockies Challenge runs with a record field of 600 riders.
September 2007 - The first TransRockies Run takes place over 6 days from Beaver Creek to Aspen, Colorado.
August 2008 - The TransRockies Run returns for a second year with a new route from Buena Vista to Beaver Creek, Colorado - which has been mostly unchanged since.
August 2010 - TransRockies Challenge returns to its original Fernie to Canmore Route
June 2011 - TransRockies launches two new Alberta events: Rundle’s Revenge and Gran Fondo Highwood Pass.
August 2011 - TransRockies Challenge celebrates its 10th anniversary event.
June 2013 - Major Flooding across southern Alberta causes the last minute cancellation of Rundle’s Revenge, relocation of the Gran Fondo Highwood Pass to Rocky Mountain House, and significant rerouting of the TransRockies Challenge.
September 2013 - TransRockies organizes the Canadian Rockies Heli-Run, a helicopter supported trail running race, near Nordegg, Alberta which runs for 2 years.
October 2013 - TransRockies Launches Moab Rocks - a 3 day mountain bike stage race in Moab, Utah.
July 2014 - TransRockies Singletrack 6 replaces TransRockies Challenge as the flagship mountain bike stage race with a new route each year in BC’s interior and the Alberta Rockies.
June 2016 - The first Golden 24, a twenty four and eight hour mountain bike race is held in Golden, BC.
August 2016 - The 10th anniversary TransRockies Run is held with a record field of 550 runners.
August 2017 - The first TranSelkirks Run is held in Revelstoke, BC - a joint venture between TransRockies and Jacob and Amy Puzey.
July 2019 - The TransRockies Classic brings back the original mountain bike stage race format with a 7-day race from Panorama to Fernie.
January 2020 - TransRockies acquires Golden Ultra, a running race started in 2015, from Magi Scallion in Golden, BC
March 2020 - Moab Rocks is the first TransRockies event affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic, with all other 2020 events eventually being cancelled.
September 2020 - The TransRockies Gravel Royale, a new 4-day gravel cycling race is announced.
August 2021 - The Under Armour TransRockies Run is the first TR event to return following pandemic-related cancellations. The remaining Canadian events are canceled due to new pandemic-related restrictions in British Columbia.
October 2021 - Moab Rocks Mountain Bike Stage Race returns for the first time after being postponed 19 months earlier.
