I am planning on entering the 2009 TR and want to start training next year on an upgraded rig. I have been riding a SC Superlight (XT level components) over the past 3 years. As I will be approaching 50 by the summer of '09, I am more concerned with comfort than speed. I am considering an Ibis Mojo carbon frame which has 5.5" rear travel, is very light and gets excellent reviews as an all mountain/freeride bike. Is anyone out there familiar with this frame and whether it, or something similar, would be a good choice for the TR?

Good question!!! When I first read your posting, I thought that the Mojo might be a bit of a overkill (too much suspension travel). I did this years TR and found, that a proper 'XC-/Marathon-Fullsuspensionbike' would match perfect. I was on a Rocky Mountain ETS-X, my teammate on a Specialized Epic. After a bit of research on the Mojo, I'm not that sure anymore. The Mojo can be built up lighter than my bike is now (if you have the cash) and it is said to be more on the XC- than on the All-mountain side. Also it is one of the very few (if not the only) bike which gets a 5/5 rating in mtbr.com (ca. 46 postings). If you have another look at it: your legs, lung and your technical skills are by far more important than the logo on your downtube.
