On day 6 my partner had a bit of problem with chain suck. We stopped and used my multi-tool to clean out the mud stuck between the granny and middle rings.

On the other hand, although I had ridden though the same muck I had no problem with chain suck. Why? I can only theorize that the "Forward Deflector Shield" that I used kept some of the mud out of my chain rings and this minimized the problem.

One other cause of chain suck that I have encountered is a worn granny ring that was so worn that the teeth were hooked and thus with a new chain it wold not release.
